Transfer Process

We try to make the transfer process as easy as possible, and we provide a transfer advisor to assist you along the way.

  1. Your first step is to submit your transfer application.
  2. Send your transcripts, including your joint service transcript (military experience into college credit) and transcripts from any prior institutions.
    1. To send your joint service transcript, visit jst.doded.mil.
  3. Complete your financial aid requirements
  4. Register for classes

Academic Advising

Academic Advising is critical to timely degree completion.  Northwest requires students meet with their advisor each semester to ensure they are on track to meeting their goals.  

Professional Advisor/Success Coaches work with first year and second year students based on discipline, then students typically transition to a faculty advisor.  We also have advisors who specialize in transferring to Northwest and our Online Professional Programs.   

The Student Success Center is available to help all students as needed in degree planning or with general advisement questions.  Students can walk-in to the Student Success Center for assistance, or reach out via phone or email:

Academic Support

Academic Support is available to help students successfully complete their degree. Northwest offers peer-led tutoring for most Northwest Core classes and some upper-level classes, in addition to Supplemental Instruction, which is peer-led collaborative study groups for several traditionally challenging courses. All this is offered at no cost to students.

Northwest Student Veterans Association (NWSVA)

The Northwest Student Veterans Association assists veterans, active duty personnel, National Guard, and reserve personnel to make an easier transition into the academic community. This group provides camaraderie and support to enhance the student veteran experience.
